The VWAA would like to welcome anyone interested to come on over to Lansing to watch us march in their 40th Annual Good Neighbor Parade. The 2007 parade "40 Years of Fun" will be held on Saturday, May 5th. The parade is one of the highlights for the village of Lansing every year with people jamming the parade route to enjoy the festivities. Lansing’s many organizations, schools, church's and businesses take this opportunity to show their community and personal pride by participating in the parade. The entire event will be video taped by Lansing's own LNN Station-Channel 4 and be broadcast on several occasions for everyone to review their day. So if you want to have a fun day out with the family, come on out and celebrate our first official order of business. The VWAA will also be announcing its debut event dates for June 2007. Our wrestling personalities will be passing out business cards to individuals interested in professional wrestling. These will have the address for the VWAA training school, which will open to the public June 1st, as well as our phone number. Our fliers will have information on our local and road event dates for June 2007. Again, as always, the VWAA is proud to call the Village of Lansing its home, and we would like to thank the combined efforts of everyone involved with our company. FAMILY IS EVERYTHING! * I really haven't commented, up til now, about our $1,000 tuition fee. Here's the reason. With the indy scene littered with so many independents, its hard for most organizations to stay afloat. That being said, its also hard for most aspiring wrestlers to come up with money to live their dream. (I know, I was there at one time.) I was a broke-ass that sacrificed my money and here's what it got me in the end,.. a bankruptcy, eviction, repossession & ultimately a divorce. TALK ABOUT PAYING DUES! That is paying dues, but look at the cost. Most "sane" individuals wouldn't go through that and I know most will say, "Well, that shows they have heart,..." blah blah blah, NO, it shows they have a dream & were willing to put it above everything else. Cool right? Well, I've been there, & I know just exactly how that feels, & it feels pretty crappy. As owner & promoter, why would I want to put my family, which is also my talent, through such BS? Our family has a dream, a dream which I plan on helping, at any cost once again, to fulfill. Any tuition fee over $1000 now days in this indy-scene is nothing more than pure greed. Knowledge is precious, but at what cost? If WCPW was in fact such a great school, and it WAS, then our trainers are the best. Guys that want to wrestle are going to do it one way or another. I prefer to help the working class rather than hinder them with senseless, overinflated FEES. People attack my method only because they try to protect and legitimize their ego and high-priced BS. The fact is, the VWAA IS pro-wrestling. Our future holds good times for all attached to us. You want to be part of something, really part of something, then the VWAA should be your pick. Your future has arrived, are you ready to go? * VWAA house show at INDUSTRIAL STUDIO 17035 Burnham ave. Lansing, Il. 60438 invites require a $10 donation at the door belltime - 7pm hope to see you there. E-mail your requests for invite passes to. jr3375@sbcglobal.net with the heading, VWAA INVITE. * Team KO; Ovirload & Amazing Kuan beat GYMW; Sal Dinero & Giuseppo #7...
* Ben Cruise beat Freek...
* Willie Richardson beat Zygo...
* Trauma beat Mr. Jangles...
* Battle Royal (for VWAA Title Shot): Machine & Atlas both won! Thus, they both earned a VWAA Title shot due to the referees not being able to see who landed first.. (The building was dim due to poor lighting as a result of a tornado wreaking havoc in the area)..
The Dean Of Referees, Steve Cain, had this to say: " Hey, it was dark they were both dressed in black, we couldn't help it! "
Said promoter Frankie Valiant: " The VWAA would like to thank all the fans from the June 7th show that stuck it out with us. Truthfully, it was an amazing night for many reasons. It can not be denied that it was a very hot and humid evening, but despite the miserable weather outdoors, the VWAA action in Industrial Studio and the cooler atmosphere makes for an enjoyable night out. However, June 7th will be a night that everyone will remember because of the severe circumstances the VWAA overcame.
It all started as a typical hot and humid Chicago afternoon. VWAA wrestlers were arriving at Industrial Studio around 5pm. The last to arrive was Akuma. I noticed the weather had taken a turn for the worse as I greeted him at the front door. It was raining, nothing major at this point, but promoters seeing rain on the night of a show is never inspiring. The VWAA fans began arriving at 6:15pm. It was still raining and then calls from family and friends started coming in warning of severe weather and tornado activity in surrounding areas. What to do? I talked with the board and it was decided that we would stick it out to see if the conditions improved. They didn’t. 5 minutes before the start of the show it began to rain with torrential downfalls. The mood from the packed indoors was uplifting however. The weather couldn’t ruin the forthcoming show. Then it happened, literally as we were about to start the show. The power went out with a “pop.” It flickered once or twice and would not return for the rest of the night. Everyone was drenched in darkness with only emergency lighting and the remaining light outdoors. Lansing, at least our immediate area, was out of power. Now add a few more phone calls and tornado sirens. Apparently, the news was broadcasting a tornado touched at 170th street and Burnham. (Our address is 17035 Burnham ave.) The VWAA board easily calmed the fans down, and for the most part, everything was business as usual. I went outdoors with our head of security and a few board members to actually see what was going on. Insanity outdoors best describes the situation. The Lansing police had blocked Burnham ave at two sections because a huge tree was uprooted and tossed through power lines. There were no traffic lights working, but the police had the situation under control. The sky looked angry. Was more coming? Apparently not, but now we were faced with a decision. What to do? We did not know the power situation at that point and, whole-heartedly believing that the show must go on, did not want to cancel the show.
The VWAA has never had to cancel a show, but we especially did not want to cancel this show because the studio was filled with fans and it was our 1 year event anniversary. June 7th was our last scheduled event for our first wrestling fiscal year. It would make number 27 for the VWAA. 27 events for the year. Not many independent wrestling companies accomplish such an achievement, especially within their first year of business, but it appeared bleak at that moment. Odd as we knew it would be, the board decided to continue with the show. The overhead door was opened and the VWAA truck was parked there with its headlights pointed in for extra lighting. Admittedly, a few fans did leave, but surprisingly, a lot more came in and replaced them. I don’t think the humidity in the arena can be accurately described, but I also can’t believe the level of excitement that was in the building. The show went on! It was not the event we had planned. Only two of the original scheduled matches went on plus two more impromptu matches. The finale was a battle royal that was also impromptu. For me, it was actually an uplifting experience. This was perhaps the VWAA’s most adverse moment, but we survived once again and came out of the fray even stronger. The VWAA board showed its heart to me once again. The fans are amazing. To stick with us through that storm, and a tornado, there are no words to describe how special that was. The VWAA wrestlers are the best in the area. To prevail through those extreme conditions and still put on a show goes far beyond professionalism.
I cannot say how proud I am of the VWAA right now, especially of the workers and friends that were there, because they know it’s where they should be and that they should be nowhere else. We continually succeed because it is THAT sacrifice that was made to the VWAA. The VWAA has had 27 successful shows. Number 27 had us going out with the preverbal “ bang, ” but we did it; the show went on. There may have been a storm on June 7th with a tornado and other hindrances; however, I think there is a bigger storm brewing in Lansing, Illinois. It goes by the name VWAA.

* VWAA Title: "The Definition" Isaias Velazquez beat champion Machine to become the new champion!
--Ring announcer Daniel Zigwa was taken to the hospital due to blurry vision caused by being mistakenly facewashed by Velazquez...
Machine's thoughts: " Everyone in the VWAA has worked so hard to get to this point, from the wrestlers to the staff and especially Security. I am very proud to call myself a Vanguard and even more proud to call myself "former" VWAA champion.
Going back 2 years ago to my fist time in VWAA at St. Andrew's Fest, I never would have guessed that this place would be where I would be calling home, not to mention where I was given a sort of creative freedom with who I am and what I was allowed to do. And allowing myself to have my older brother, Ratt, be able to manage me where no other company even gave us the chance was the deal sealer.
If it were not for this company and all the men and women involved who treated me with respect and dignity and actually let me go nuts in a church gym with a machete and just shoot from the hip on everything, I would more than likely would have been done.
This company is more than just another fed in the area. It is what I call my home away from home and, absolutely, my saving grace.
To single certain guys and gals out, to thank them, would be silly because everyone involved with this company deserves my gratitude. To all my VWAA FAMILY, I say thank you and can't wait for what bigger things happen in the future. We all busted our asses and will continue to do so.
And most definitely, the fans who come every show and support us - you guys are the best! "
Thomas Sinclair added: " So... my little brigaders, I could say alot at this moment, but all I really wanna say is THANK YOU. To all the fans, wrestlers (who are family to me), and everyone who helped make this show FUXING BADICAL!!! This was more than worth fighting to take my leave early... everyone thank you... it all was worth it..."
Frankie Valiant's thoughts: " I am very proud of what the VWAA accomplished at this Manifest Destiny. The work that went in to this production was immense, but it certainly was well worth it. What fun it was and I cannot wait until we go back to Bremen for our next event. As far as the match I was involved in, that was perhaps even more fun for me. I have to say that Brawn and Ivan were at the top of their game. I was hardly able to use any toys for crying out loud, although I did manage to use the spiked-bat that cavdrifter made for me for the match(Ivan didn't enjoy it as much as I did). I'm happy to have been able to compete in this match with the likes of Brawn and Ivan. I think the respect that we have for one another in the VWAA Hardcore Division grows every time we face. "
