Chris Colt Cuts that did not make it on the Dark Side [of the Ring episode]
Ron Dupree to me - "We have been together for 10 years and I still don't know him." Mobile, Alabama - 1975
Chris took on the ring name of Mike Stallings while wrestling for Mike LeBell's Los Angeles Promotions while attending a stunt school. 1980-81 (?)
He used the name Don Juan in 1965 when he wrestled in Canada with other Santos crew boys.
In the early 80's, he called me and told me he was going to be in Rhode Island for a Joe Cocker concert. Invited me down as a guest since he was working as a roadie for Cocker. Sadly, I had to decline since I had to work (Trailways Bus Lines) as a ticket agent in Hartford, CT.
He took part in only one Germany Tournament, in Hannover, in the fall of 1980 for promoter Henrich Kaiser.
He told me that he credited British wrestler Steve Wright for saving his life in Mexico City. Chris was involved in a bar fight with some tough hombres - 1974
His life would be over by 30 in a conversation that we had.
A tour of New Zealand was set up by Ernie Roth / Grand Wizard in the mid 70's. Chris opted not to go.
Knowing that I worked for Trailways Bus Line, he informed me that he was thrown off a Greyhound Bus for being drunk and disorderly.
One time when he was home (Idaho) he brought the midgets over for Thansgiving Dinner at his mom's.
A regular traveling companion and friend was former girl wrestler, Tara Tayla aka Jungle Jane (Bonnie ? … senior moment).
A couple of years before his death, he got clean and was involved in a church in Seattle. He went to Dean Silverstone's (RIP) Record Shop and tried to preach to Dean. His former promoter asked him to leave. Dean told me he always regretted asking him to leave (his story).
Note - I think that there are many more stories that can be and should be told about a wrestler that had a vision of what was to become .
